About the Role
KXAN is seeking a Multiskilled Journalist to join its investigative team in Central Texas. This role involves creating engaging content for online and on-air platforms, providing context and clarity to news reports for the local audience.
Responsibilities
- Produce and report news stories for digital and broadcast news platforms.
- Write reports for the web and other eMedia platforms, ensuring accuracy and adherence to style guidelines.
- Arrange interviews with relevant sources.
- Determine story emphasis, length, and format.
- Research and analyze background information for news stories.
- Gather information through research, interviews, and event attendance.
- Pitch timely and relevant story ideas to management.
- Evaluate leads and tips to develop story ideas.
- Discuss story priorities with producers and managers.
- Revise work to meet editorial standards and time constraints.
- Shoot and edit video for news reports.
- Ensure content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
- Perform special projects and other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to ad lib.
- Minimum two years of news reporting experience (market dependent).
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
- Superior on-air presence and delivery.
- Proficiency with office equipment.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Flexibility to work any shift.
