About the Role

The Product Validation Engineer is crucial in new product development by creating qualification tests. This role involves participating in the design process, developing DFMEA and validation plans, and collaborating with various teams to ensure testing aligns with procedures and delivers usable results for product evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Generate well-designed tests based on consumer expectations and intended use for unique products.
  • Support test recommendations with statistical analysis to define severity relative to consumer use cases.
  • Confirm new tests yield effective, repeatable results and document procedures for global lab partners.
  • Serve as a product validation expert on project core teams.
  • Leverage advanced knowledge of mechanical design principles and lab equipment to simulate consumer behavior.
  • Convert customer use cases into test protocols and requirements.
  • Partner with data analytics, industrial design, and product management teams to collect data on expected product use.
  • Partner with product management and industrial design to understand target consumers and determine appropriate testing baselines.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of design qualification experience, including establishing, testing, and evaluating product qualifications against specifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry standards applicable to product design and testing.
  • Strong technical background in heat transfer, impact, vibration, abrasion, environmental, life/cycle testing, material validation, and process validation.
  • Root Cause Analysis experience in mixed-material product assemblies.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in designing and building test equipment for thermal, mechanical, repetitive motion, and/or other testing needs.
  • Proficient with electronic and mechanical test equipment.
  • Excellent social, interpersonal, and presentation/communication skills.
  • Technical writing skills are a must.
  • Proficient in reading and/or producing schematics and drawings, identifying components, and component values via CAD design tools (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Product Design experience.
  • FEA experience.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (JMP, Minitab).
  • Injection molding and/or textiles experience.
  • Regulatory compliance experience.
  • Operate office equipment and technology.
  • Bend, lift, open, and move product up to 50 pounds as needed.
