About the Role

Partnering with NRCS and Pheasants Forever, this role focuses on building relationships with farmers and conservation partners to develop farm management plans that integrate conservation, agriculture, technology, and economics. The goal is to showcase alternative management practices that increase farm profitability and conservation opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct one-on-one farm site visits.
  • Identify and evaluate marginally productive cropland using agriculture technology.
  • Create maps and plans to improve farm areas.
  • Identify and present grants and cost share opportunities.
  • Monitor project success.
  • Organize and host workshops, field days, and outreach efforts.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships within the agriculture community.
  • Understand and relay how economic information and precision data can develop profitable conservation solutions.
  • Lead farmer recruitment for conservation solutions.
  • Facilitate voluntary program identification, enrollment, and implementation with Farm Bill Biologists.
  • Conduct and interpret analyses of precision data and economic inputs to calculate ROI and profitability.
  • Increase coordination and efficiency in implementing voluntary conservation programs.
  • Create and deliver education and outreach activities to promote voluntary conservation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with local USDA offices to promote and implement EQIP and CSP programs.
  • Write conservation plans and provide technical assistance to landowners.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Use of personal vehicle required.
  • Ability to obtain USDA Federal Security Clearance.

  • Experience with ArcGIS with the ability to import and export data, create, and edit shapefiles to create professional looking maps is preferred.

  • Southeast Minnesota
  • Remote (up to 50% after training)

Experience Level

  • New graduates considered
  • Candidates with an associate degree and two or more years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Candidates without a bachelor’s or associate degree should have five-plus years of relevant experience in agriculture.

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s degree in Precision Agriculture, Agronomy, Ag Systems Technology, Ag Business, Natural Resources or Wildlife Management, or other related field.
  • Associate degree considered with relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.

Salary/Compensations

  • $49,500 to $65,500 Commensurate with experience.
