About the Role
This role combines working alongside the CEO on Warden's biggest priorities with directly owning the operational foundations of the company. You will help turn current operational knowledge into a system that allows Warden to scale effectively without becoming chaotic.
Responsibilities
- Manage Warden's financial operations end to end, including working with external accountants, managing funds, confirming payroll, and overseeing pension schemes.
- Own and maintain the financial model.
- Manage metrics, reporting, and team dashboards.
- Own CRM processes, hygiene, and reporting in Attio.
- Build and improve operational processes to support company growth, ensuring simplicity and proper execution.
- Own day-to-day people operations, including policies, onboarding, and HRIS, with external support as needed.
- Ensure Warden has the right foundational infrastructure as the team grows beyond the first 20 hires.
- Contribute to making Warden a desirable place to stay, avoiding unnecessary process or bureaucracy.
- Write investor updates.
- Conduct outreach on behalf of the CEO to partners, prospects, advisors, and regulators.
- Spearhead new initiatives alongside the CEO, such as project-managing data partnerships and establishing the advisory council.
- Conduct market research into new segments of the hiring market.
- Gradually reduce the number of CEO-dependent tasks.
- Take on and solve important projects and problems that currently lack an owner.
- Identify priorities and determine what can be 'good enough' or not worth doing.
- Build processes that function independently, rather than solely relying on personal effort.
- Ensure systems work without constant personal involvement.
Requirements
- 4–8 years of experience in startups, operations, Chief of Staff, consulting, or founding-team roles.
- Meaningful hands-on experience owning business operations, not just advising on them.
- An operator mindset, prioritizing fixing immediate issues over theoretical strategy.
- Strong writing skills for investor updates, emails, and internal documents.
- Comfort with numbers, including financial modeling and reconciliation.
- Judgment to represent the CEO appropriately and the instinct to know when to seek confirmation.
- Excellent prioritization skills to identify and focus on the most critical tasks.
- Systematic and resourceful approach, creating lasting processes rather than relying on heroics.
- Discretion, low ego, and understanding of responsibility when handling sensitive company information.
- Comfort with detailed and administrative tasks, especially in the early stages of company building.
- Desire to be close to the process of building a company and satisfaction from improving organizational efficiency.
- Willingness to take on hands-on operations, not solely a strategy role.
- Comfort with the details of finance, payroll, HR, and company administration.
- A preference for owning outcomes over influencing decisions.
- Ability to work in a flexible/hybrid environment.
