About the Role
The Facility Maintenance Technician (Plumbing) will perform maintenance and repair on non-technical facility components, including general handyperson tasks like wall repair, flooring, and painting. The role also involves ensuring work complies with environmental, health, safety, and fire protection standards.
Responsibilities
- Performs work in accordance with established processes and practices.
- Complies with all internal and external requirements, including environmental, health, safety, and fire protection.
- Performs regular monitoring and inspection of facility and non-technical components.
- Provides observations on facility conditions and suggests enhancements and repairs.
- Monitors assigned facility through walkthroughs and inspections.
- Responds to routine and on-demand service requests.
- Performs preventative maintenance and repair work on non-technical components.
- Records resolution data in the service maintenance management database, ensuring quality and contract compliance.
- Receives, tracks, monitors, and reports status of maintenance and repair work, initiating documents for approval.
- Assists in the implementation of the preventative maintenance (PM) program, identifying, recording, and escalating deficiencies.
- Participates in and assists with facility-related projects.
- Ensures work performed complies with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair or replacement.
- Submits all expenditures on a timely basis.
- Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment.
- Minimum 1-3 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience.
- Ability to adhere to and properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
- Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair non-technical facility components.
- Ability to provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies and provide suggestions for enhancement and repair.
- Ability to research, learn, and gain greater proficiency in applying on-the-job fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards.
- Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.
- Ability to perform work in a safe manner.
- Strong client-service orientation with a high sense of urgency.
- Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
Skills
- Good understanding of plumbing by trade.
- General repairs of building fabric.
- Trade related training is an asset.
