About the Role

The Quad Preparatory School is seeking an Upper School English Special Education Teacher for grades 6-12. This role involves providing academic instruction and social-emotional support to neurodiverse, twice-exceptional students in small class settings (no more than ten students, or one-to-one/dyads). Teachers will collaborate with clinicians and administrators, receive mentorship and coaching, and contribute to an innovative educational environment.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement high-quality, engaging English lessons differentiated to meet student learning needs.
Assess students and curriculum regularly, adapting content and instruction as needed.
Communicate assessment results to parents.
Implement the school’s philosophy of progressive and personalized education for twice-exceptional children.
Collaborate with psychosocial teachers on integrated executive functioning programs.
Map and evaluate curriculum.
Collaborate with the English Language Arts department for vertical curriculum alignment.
Develop and teach electives.
Create and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment considering students’ social, emotional, and executive functioning needs.
Maintain accurate records using the Veracross learning management system and student work portfolios.
Empower students to take charge of their learning through scaffolding and high expectations.
Collaborate with academic and psychosocial staff on cross-curricular, inquiry-based projects.
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress via conferences, reports, calls, and emails.
Adhere to the professional code and policies of the school.
Utilize Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets).
Attend faculty and staff meetings, professional development sessions, and required special events.
Perform other duties as assigned, such as serving as an academic advisor or leading a student club.

Experience Level

Secondary English and/or Special Education teaching credential (preferred).
Special education training, including training in gifted education and twice-exceptional youth (preferred).
Training in the Hochman Method to teach writing (preferred).
