About the Role

B3 enables enterprise manufacturers to digitize operations and leverage AI to enhance performance. As a Senior Data Engineer on the AI & Data Science team, you will own the team's analytical data layer, including schemas, views, and pipelines that serve analytics, monitors, and AI features. This is a high-autonomy role on a small, senior team where you will be the authority on data architecture and set the standard for how this layer is designed and run. We seek proven production skills in schema design, pipeline ownership, and storage decisions.

Responsibilities

Design and standardize the DS data layer, tables, views, aggregates, and relations built over ingested client data.
Build and own the pipelines that keep this layer current, including transformations, refresh scheduling, and monitoring.
Own the quality bar for derived data, ensuring tables are validated for correctness and stability.
Integrate external, non-client data sources end-to-end for correlation analysis.
Drive communication and alignment across the company's data layers, collaborating with ingestion and platform teams.
Work with the ML lead and full-stack engineer to expose the layer as clean, reusable services.
Evolve the layer as the platform grows, accommodating multi-level site structures and corporate-level aggregation without impacting live services.

Requirements

5+ years of data engineering with production ownership.
Expert SQL and data modeling skills, including normalization, indexing, performance tuning, and designing views/aggregates for multiple consumers.
Strong pipeline engineering experience: scheduling, idempotency, failure handling, monitoring, and alerting.
Solid Python skills for data work.
Demonstrated ability to make independent architectural decisions that have proven effective.
Ability to work cleanly across team boundaries, build on upstream data, define clear contracts, and maintain documented interfaces.
Clear communication skills with non-specialists, including well-documented schemas and decisions.
