About the Role

The Corporate Communications team leads Intact Financial Corporation’s internal and external communications in support of IFC’s business objectives and strategic roadmap. The Executive Communications team creates and delivers communication that raise the profile of Intact’s global and Canadian CEOs and other senior executives, while sharing key aspects of Intact’s strategy. As Communications Specialist, you will work closely with Intact’s CEOs and leadership team, serving as a lead writer and a trusted communications advisor, while establishing yourself as an expert in the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of high-impact written communications for the C-suite, including speeches, employee messages, briefing notes and other written content for both internal and external audiences.
  • Working with colleagues and SMEs across the business, ensure content is current, relevant, aligned with our objectives, engaging, and representative of the global business.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the voice, perspective, and communication style of senior leaders to authentically write and communicate on their behalf.
  • Seek out and develop a deep understanding of Intact’s strategy, objectives and the overall business to accurately and effectively reflect them in all executive communications.
  • Support the creation of internal and external videos profiling senior executives. This includes developing concepts, writing scripts, being present during filming and collaborating with Intact’s internal studio team and external video agencies to review and provide feedback on edits and video drafts.
  • Develop and execute communications plans that elevate the profile of the CEOs and other senior executives.
  • Ensure messaging and communications approaches are aligned across Intact’s brands, subsidiaries and global markets.
  • Establish productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration, share news and create simple, engaging, and meaningful messages to support Intact’s storytelling efforts.
  • Based on clear KPIs and other metrics, measure success for all projects across all audiences, and provide recommendations based on findings and learnings.
  • Actively support and collaborate with other Corporate Communications team members, including with special projects, to meet broader Corp Comms team objectives and Intact executive needs.
  • Actively participate in all meetings, and the development of annual, quarterly and monthly comms plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, writing, communications or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in communications or journalism.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style based on the audience, from employees to investors.
  • Executive presence: demonstrates confidence, composure, and sound judgment when working with CEOs and senior executives, earning their trust and navigating complex situations with sensitivity.
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and expectations simultaneously.
  • Highly organized and able to manage workflow efficiently with autonomy and flexibility with minimal supervision.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • French is a strong asset.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required, but must have authorization to work in Canada.
  • Gains the trust of the senior executives through exceptional writing skills, critical thinking, a strong understanding of the business and the ability to navigate complex situations with sensitivity and sound judgment.
  • Plans and leads executive communications projects and writes content that contributes meaningfully to the Executive Communications and Corporate Communications teams, our objectives and action plan.
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking by ensuring messaging is aligned across Intact’s global brands and subsidiaries.
  • Ensures ideas are fitting and aligned with strategic priorities while determining the most creative and effective approaches to execute them.
  • Builds strong relationships with internal business partners and colleagues across the organization and globally across our markets.

  • 15% Annual bonus target
