About the Role

The Scribe Tech captures accurate patient visit documentation into the EMR, assists physicians with patient care and medical procedures, and supports site management with patient flow, inventory, and lab follow-up. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing CNA, MA, EMT, or Paramedic careers, offering valuable healthcare exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Capture accurate and detailed documentation of the patient visit into the EMR in a timely manner.
  • Assist the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures.
  • Assist site management with directing patient flow, inventory, and following up on labs.
  • Ensure site lab compliance with Department of Health (DOH) Regulations.
  • Provide unparalleled customer service to patients, adhering to established protocols and work processes.
  • Manage volume without compromising quality.
  • Assist the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures, including phlebotomy, Urine Drug Screens, lab processing, fit testing, rapid point of care testing, UA, EKG, and procedure set ups.
  • Ensure Department of Health (DOH) compliance of site lab and exam rooms, including logbook maintenance, checking for expired medications and supplies, and proper handling of specimens.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, x-rays, or other facilities on site as needed.
  • Maintain a quick pace in a fast-paced urgent care facility for the duration of the scheduled shift.
  • Facilitate necessary diagnostic tests and referrals to medical specialists for follow-up care.
  • Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under physician guidance.
  • Help maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environment.
  • Ensure the site is fully stocked with supplies.
  • Provide compassionate care to patients.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED; Undergraduate degree is a plus.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program and/or phlebotomy certifications are a plus, but not required as training will be provided.
  • Friendly and professional with excellent bedside manner.
  • Flexible with a full-time work schedule including a weekend day.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • English language (speaking and writing) skills required.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Must exhibit passion for outstanding results and compassion for those we work with and serve.
  • Team player.
  • Knowledge of third-party payor requirements is preferred.
  • Strong aptitude for detail and ability to work independently required.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Computer Proficiency.
  • Happy and positive thinking, able to project this attitude around others.
  • Flexible & adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving environment.
  • Passion for helping others in an urgent care environment.
  • Bilingual language skills required or preferred based on-site location.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
  • Ability to lift light to moderate amounts of weight to assist team members.
  • Ability to maintain a quick pace in a fast-paced urgent care medical facility for the duration of the scheduled shift minus meal/break time.
