About the Role

Our client, a pension plan provider, is looking to hire a Senior Business Analyst to own data capabilities end-to-end, from problem definition and solution design to production deployment and ongoing accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, document, and own business and data requirements using business requirements documents, user stories, acceptance criteria, BPMN, data flow diagrams, and source to target mapping specifications.
  • Perform hands-on data analysis, querying source and target systems for data profiling, reconciliation, transformation validation, and correctness verification.
  • Facilitate design sessions and workshops with investment, operations, risk, performance, and finance stakeholders, translating business intent to technical design and vice versa.
  • Define problems, shape solutions with engineers and architects, and ensure capabilities are production-ready and functional.
  • Transform multiple similar requests into one extensible capability by identifying underlying gaps and designing for the general case.
  • Design for operability, including defining support models, monitoring, controls, and documentation for operations teams.
  • Define and execute business test plans, including integration, performance, and regression testing.
  • Participate in defect triage, root cause analysis, and resolution across environments.
  • Write requirements and acceptance criteria for engineers and vendors, and review system integrator deliverables.
  • Identify gaps and escalate issues regarding quality or completeness.
  • Operate across Agile and waterfall delivery models, maintaining clear documentation and communication of scope, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Build a working understanding of the current investment data and platform environment to define target state requirements.
  • Support the current environment to build transition knowledge, including investigating data issues, tracing lineage, and validating behavior during migration.
  • Become a subject matter expert on platforms, serving as the go-to person for data behavior.
  • Build and maintain data documentation, including data dictionaries, lineage, metadata, and knowledge base articles.
  • Apply change management principles, including stakeholder impact assessment, end-user training, and communications, to ensure adoption.

Requirements

  • 7+ years as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst supporting investment platforms, investment accounting, order management, risk, performance, or data warehouse initiatives.
  • Experience working on large-scale transformation, migration, or data modernization programs.
  • Expert-level SQL skills, including writing complex joins and aggregations.
  • Ability to perform data profiling and reconciliation.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve data quality issues independently.
  • Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data models.
  • Experience with requirements gathering and stakeholder management.
  • Experience with business process modeling.
  • Experience with user story creation.
  • Experience with source-to-target mapping and data lineage documentation.
