About the Role

Baker Tilly is seeking an entrepreneurial Federal Tax Partner for its National Real Estate Practice. This role involves delivering industry-focused tax advisory and compliance services to Real Estate Clients, mentoring staff, and contributing to the firm's growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Provide federal tax compliance and consulting services to construction and real estate clients.
  • Serve as a trusted tax business advisor, leading client relationships on day-to-day tax matters.
  • Consult on technical matters and special projects in corporate and flow-through taxation, accounting methods, and ASC740.
  • Research tax matters, respond to tax authority inquiries, and make recommendations to clients.
  • Coordinate with specialty tax practices on complex tax issues.
  • Oversee tax-planning responsibilities for federal and individual clients.
  • Review complex tax research related to business transactions for various entities.
  • Provide recommendations for business and process improvements.
  • Manage client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability.
  • Utilize entrepreneurial skills to network and build relationships for client acquisition.
  • Participate in request for proposals to pursue additional clients/services.
  • Develop tax service market positioning, branding, strategy, and messaging.
  • Invest in professional development and participate in firm-wide learning programs.
  • Support the growth and development of team members and assist with recruitment.
  • Demonstrate leadership, initiative, team skills, and high ethical standards.
  • Represent the firm at key community events and meetings.
  • Travel as needed to clients nationally and to other Baker Tilly offices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • CPA or JD required or Enrolled Agent.
  • Fifteen (15+) years of experience providing federal tax compliance and consulting services in a professional services firm, working with real estate clients.
  • Relevant industry experience is considered.
  • Proven success in building out a book of business.
  • Five (5) + years of supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates.
  • Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others.
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service.
  • Commitment to continuous learning to stay current regarding applicable strategies.
  • Ability to see the "big picture" as well as the details.
  • Appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment.
  • Sense of urgency and commitment to quality and timely project completion.
  • Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills.
