About the Role
RSM is seeking a Tax Senior Manager to join their Financial Services Insurance team, contributing to national practice efforts. The role focuses on technical expertise, people management, and client service, aiming to instill confidence and empower clients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide people leadership.
- Train and develop staff members.
- Offer tax technical guidance on insurance-related issues.
- Manage multiple complex issues, communicating effectively with clients and service teams.
- Manage client risk.
- Serve as the Tax client service coordinator for designated clients.
- Advise clients on corporate tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and M&A.
- Review research findings to ensure consistency with firm policies and professional standards.
- Assist with new business development and identify extended service opportunities for existing clients.
- Manage corporate client needs for tax services and tax compliance.
- Stay current with tax practices and changes in tax law.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a business-related field.
- Active CPA license, licensed attorney, or Enrolled Agent.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting or similar experience focused on the insurance industry.
- Ability to work closely with clients to gather necessary information for tax services.
- Experience with C-Corps, S-Corps, or Partnerships.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Skills
- Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance for insurance carriers, brokers, and similar organizations.
- Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience preparing or reviewing accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC 740 and SSAP 101.
- Experience in dealing with international tax matters is a plus.
