About the Role
As an MRI Technologist, your ability to empathize with patients, specialized technical skills, and dedication to quality greatly enhance the overall success of MRI imaging for diagnostic use in patient care. You will perform technical and specialized skills in the operation of a Magnetic Resonance (MRI) Scanner to produce high-quality cross-sectional images for diagnostic purposes, while providing maximum comfort and safety to patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and advanced MRI procedures while monitoring and maintaining patient care and safety.
- Educate patients regarding their procedure and maintain a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment.
- Maintain accountability for timely and proper service to patients during unsupervised shifts.
- Provide on-call coverage for the MRI Section of Radiology.
- Maintain accountability for proper documentation of exams and related procedures using the Radiant Care Connect EMR.
- Clean, restock, and prepare rooms daily.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Verify patient identification and order/requisition, assessing procedure appropriateness and consulting with providers as needed.
- Administer IV contrast media.
- Transfer imaging data for archiving and post-data processing using PACS software.
- Follow direct orders from Radiologist or referring provider for MRI imaging and contrast administration.
- Receive verbal orders and document appropriately in the EMR.
- Collaborate with all modalities for mutual patient flow.
- Perform transport duties as needed.
- Monitor patient status and notify nurse/physician of changes in patient condition.
- Appropriately maintain all MRI and accessory equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology or completion of a Radiologic Technology hospital certificate program.
- NYS license in Radiologic Technology required OR must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of hire.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT-R) required within 6 months of employment.
- NYS Injection Certification within 6 months of employment.
- BLS Certification within 6 months of employment.
- Official transcript from accredited school or letter from school's registrar confirming program completion accepted upon graduation for new graduates.
- Primary source education verification required within 90 days of start date.
