About the Role
Bethesda House aims to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness by addressing individual needs holistically, ensuring clients feel heard, respected, and safe. We provide hands-on support for chronic homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, disability, and systemic poverty through innovative solutions for vulnerable populations in Schenectady County.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Human Resources team.
- Assist with recruiting activities, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and employment documentation.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and HR databases.
- Process employment-related paperwork, including new hires, status changes, and terminations.
- Assist with benefits enrollment and respond to employee questions regarding HR policies and procedures.
- Support payroll by collecting and verifying employee information.
- Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, and other documentation as requested.
- Track employee training, certifications, and performance review schedules.
- Help coordinate employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and company events.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Respond to employee inquiries and direct questions to the appropriate HR staff when necessary.
- Perform other administrative and HR-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 1–3 years of administrative or human resources experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
