About the Role
This role presents a unique opportunity to make an impact in an expanding Financial Crime team. The Senior Financial Crime Officer (Governance & Training) will be responsible for critical elements of TMHCCI’s Financial Crime Framework, supporting the delivery of a robust Governance and Training framework. This role focuses on maintaining, enhancing, and implementing financial crime policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring company controls support adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead a team to deliver a robust Financial Crime and Licensing Governance control framework.
- Ensure senior management visibility of key risks and appropriate escalation of financial crime and regulatory matters.
- Deliver the annual risk assessment exercise, including mapping exposure, evaluating controls, forming recommendations, and following up on remediation.
- Conduct annual reviews of all financial crime related policies, procedures, and guidance.
- Review and maintain the High-Risk Business Approval List.
- Deliver key financial crime related MI and Committee reports.
- Manage the delivery of key financial crime controls, including Segregation of Duty reviews and Gifts & Entertainment registers.
- Promote a culture of compliance through ongoing horizon scanning and knowledge sharing.
- Perform impact assessments on financial crime regulatory changes.
- Deliver communications to the business regarding financial crime and licensing issues, trends, or risks.
- Oversee and deliver annual and bespoke training, ensuring modules remain current.
- Manage, coach, and develop team members.
- Support the Financial Crime team on regulatory returns, regulatory relationships, business queries, and financial crime projects.
- Participate in all departmental activities as required.
Requirements
- 6+ years experience in financial crime in the (re)insurance industry.
- Demonstrable experience leading and managing a team.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing financial crime compliance programs, leading and conducting risk assessments, and delivering training.
- Knowledge and experience of the application of UK, EU, US and UN sanctions in the (re)insurance sector.
- High level of analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to resolve issues.
- Proactive in identifying improvements to department's ways of working, reporting, and communications.
- Demonstrate a risk-based methodology in work methods and reporting.
- Ability to manage own workload and that of direct reports, prioritizing tasks appropriately and ensuring delivery dates are achieved.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
- Good written communication skills.
- Proven track record of delivering clear and fit-for-purpose documents including procedures and guidance.
