About the Role

Seeking a driven Afterschool Counselor with a high sense of urgency and strong work ethic to lead and supervise students in a variety of activities, fostering creativity, teamwork, and learning in a safe and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise students in activities including arts and crafts, sports, homework assistance, and enrichment projects.
  • Design and implement age-appropriate activities that foster creativity, teamwork, and learning.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Monitor student behavior, provide guidance, and address challenges with care and professionalism.
  • Work closely with other afterschool staff to ensure a cohesive program.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student participation and progress.
  • Track attendance and maintain accurate records of student activities.
  • Follow school policies and procedures for a secure and compliant program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma from an accredited institution required.
  • Legally authorized to work in the USA.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience Level

  • Elementary and/or Middle School teaching experience preferred
  • NYS certification in content area or working towards certification is preferred

Education Level

  • High School Diploma
