About the Role

The lifeguard is responsible for helping to prevent water-related injuries or drownings by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Guard the health and safety of swimmers while in or around the pool.
• Lift persons in distress of varying weights on occasion.
• Remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time.
• Assist with any pool related responsibilities.
• Enforce all facility policies, rules, and regulations.
• Complete the daily checklist of rules and safety guidelines for the aquatic area.
• Appropriately address student behavioral issues and other challenges to maintain a safe environment and a sense of calm.
• Understand and implement safety requirements.
• Supervise in pool areas as needed throughout the day.
• Foster positive relationships with team members, staff, visitors, etc.
• Motivate and inspire your team to achieve goals.
• Perform other duties and tasks as needed and assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess current Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/ First Aid/AED certifications.
• Able to recognize and respond to individuals in distress in emergency situations immediately.
• Must have a strong work ethic, including being responsible, dependable, level-headed, flexible, and calm in all situations.
• A strong commitment to safety, exercising sound judgment and maintaining a safely conscious approach at all times.
• Ability to be available from 3pm-6pm during the weekdays.
• Ability to lift or pull up to 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail are a must.
• Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance.
• A positive attitude and the ability to listen effectively and be receptive to feedback.
• Ability to cultivate a welcoming culture in which all members of our community feel valued and appreciated.
