About the Role
The lifeguard is responsible for helping to prevent water-related injuries or drownings by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
Responsibilities
- Guard the health and safety of swimmers while in or around the pool.
- Lift persons in distress of varying weights on occasion.
- Remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time.
- Assist with any pool related responsibilities.
- Enforce all facility policies, rules, and regulations.
- Complete the daily checklist of rules and safety guidelines for the aquatic area.
- Appropriately address student behavioral issues and other challenges to maintain a safe environment and a sense of calm.
- Understand and implement safety requirements.
- Supervise in pool areas as needed throughout the day.
- Foster positive relationships with team members, staff, visitors, etc.
- Motivate and inspire your team to achieve goals.
- Perform other duties and tasks as needed and assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess current Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/ First Aid/AED certifications.
- Able to recognize and respond to individuals in distress in emergency situations immediately.
- Must have a strong work ethic, including being responsible, dependable, level-headed, flexible, and calm in all situations.
- A strong commitment to safety, exercising sound judgment and maintaining a safely conscious approach at all times.
- Ability to be available from 3pm-6pm during the weekdays.
- Ability to lift or pull up to 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail are a must.
- Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance.
- A positive attitude and the ability to listen effectively and be receptive to feedback.
- Ability to cultivate a welcoming culture in which all members of our community feel valued and appreciated.
