About the Role

Action Pact is recruiting for a full-time EHS Floater to provide a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment for children. The Floater will assist the assigned teacher in classroom management and planning, with rotating assignments within the center and potential assistance in other centers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily head count and complete daily attendance records and meal count.
  • Follow an approved curriculum and daily schedule, and assist in development and implementation of daily lesson plans.
  • Monitor, document, and follow the policy for reporting suspected child abuse.
  • Observe, assess, and record the behavior of assigned children.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEP) and Individualized Prescriptive Plans.
  • Assist to compile an inventory and request/store classroom materials and supplies.
  • Assist Teacher with home visits for assigned children's parents or guardians.
  • Assist Teacher to coordinate the activities of volunteers.
  • Maintain confidential information regarding children, families, and the program.
  • Assist in the implementation of the assigned curriculum.
  • Assist Teacher to demonstrate appropriate classroom management techniques.
  • Advise parents of child's progress and/or problems, and document all contacts.
  • Be courteous and receptive to Head Start parents and encourage their participation.
  • Assist the Teacher to supervise the arrival and departure of children and to load/unload buses.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher/Teacher to establish and utilize a variety of interest areas.
  • Assure that rooms are neat and attractive, and children’s work is displayed at eye level.
  • Assure evidence in each child’s folder that their program of activities and experiences are planned and based on on-going assessment.
  • Maintain classroom records in the absence of the Teacher.
  • Report to Teacher needs for equipment repair or placement.
  • Coordinate with appropriate community resources with approval.
  • Promote parent and community volunteers and actively seek In-Kind donations.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis or emergency situations.
  • Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice making.
  • Assist in other centers within our service area, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • A CDA/TCC or some course work in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License.

  • $13.02 - $13.20 (actual)
  • $11.32 - $11.47 (prorate)
