About the Role
A Medical Radiographer provides clinical services by capturing images to help identify problem areas in patients, demonstrating superior patient care and outstanding communication skills while adhering to high standards of excellence.
Responsibilities
- Produces diagnostic exams, positions and transfers patients, and provides immobilization devices.
- Selects proper technical factors and operates equipment on an individual patient basis.
- Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
- Assists physicians in administering opaque media.
- Delegates areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures.
- May be responsible for specific areas of instruction for the school of technology and ancillary personnel.
- May be designated as acting supervisor in the absence of the supervisor or senior technologist.
- Assists in performing first aid as necessary.
- Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination.
- May conduct periodic quality control tests.
- Participates or conducts research in required specialty.
- Teaches radiology students or appropriate hospital personnel established procedures and equipment operation.
- Must be available to work Saturday & Sunday when needed.
Requirements
- Graduate from a Diagnostic Radiology Technology program.
- NYS DOH Licensed in Diagnostic Radiology Technology with IV Contrast Injection certification.
- ARRT-MRI Certification.
- Current BLS Certification.
- If the candidate does not have IV Contrast Injection certification, they must be certified within the first 2 months of hire.
- If the candidate does not have ARRT-MRI certification, they must be certified within the first 12 months of hire.
- These certifications must be completed within the allotted time to maintain employment.

- Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
- Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
- Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen.
- Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
- Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

- $101,595 - $128,846 Base
- Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($4000)
- Night shift differential ($15,000)
- Evening shift differential ($10,000)
- Inconvenience pay/supplemental shift differential ($575)
