About the Role

Join GFT's Water team as a Water Treatment Process Engineer, contributing to innovative solutions for sustainable water management and infrastructure. This role involves advanced water and wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and conveyance, collection, and transmission, with a focus on technology, sustainability, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the design of water treatment through evaluation of existing processes and facilities.
  • Conduct treatment assessments, design improvements, expansions, and new facilities.
  • Manage permitting and construction administration.
  • Conduct site visits and complete treatment studies.
  • Develop treatment process recommendations and prepare reports and design documents.
  • Support permitting efforts.
  • Lead and support the planning and process evaluation of potable water treatment processes, including intakes and raw water pump stations, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, disinfection, filtration, iron and manganese removal, PFAS treatment, chemical systems, and process wastewater and residuals handling.
  • Conduct site visits and investigations to analyze water quality, facility design, and operating data.
  • Assess treatment performance and provide recommendations for treatment and process improvements.
  • Plan and execute bench, pilot, and full-scale studies to meet project goals.
  • Assess test results and facility operating data to develop process recommendations.
  • Prepare required reports.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering (MS preferred).
  • Professional Engineer License required or ability to obtain in 6-12 months.
  • 6+ years of experience in water treatment, specifically as a water engineer involved with planning and/or process evaluation for potable water treatment facilities.
  • Knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of water treatment chemistry and processes (oxidation, coagulation, clarification, filtration, disinfection, adsorption, pH adjustment).
  • Experience in hydraulics, chemical feed systems, and water treatment technology.
  • Experience in the planning and execution of projects, including project approach, resource needs, options analysis, process and equipment design, and engineering document development through plan, design, procure, construct, and commissioning phases.
  • Occasional travel for meetings, field work, site investigation, and inspection.
  • Experience working directly with Environmental Regulators (e.g., NJDEP, PADEP, MDE, NYDOH).
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
