About the Role

BGC York Region Club is seeking motivated individuals to facilitate its after-school children's program for the 2026-2027 school year. The program serves children aged 6-13, offering social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support. This role is crucial in promoting core values and implementing engaging activities.

Responsibilities

• Promote the core values of BGC Canada and achieve its operating standards.
• Implement and facilitate physical fun activities, arts, science (STEM), and nutrition activities.
• Provide instruction on motor skills and physical activities to enhance participant development.
• Supervise after-school program participants, promoting safety, respect, conflict resolution, leadership, and life skills.
• Ensure the safety and security of program participants.
• Maintain health and safety standards for food, storage, and preparation areas.
• Liaise with parents/guardians on issues concerning their children.
• Maintain communication and working relationships with school administrators and interns.
• Maintain professional relationships with peers, members, volunteers, parents, and the public.
• Enforce policies and procedures and initiate discipline when required.
• Monitor weekly participant attendance and coordinate with administrative staff for accurate documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Educational background applicable to the position.
• Experience working with children is an asset.
• Strong skills in sports, arts, recreation, science (STEM), tech, education, health, or nutrition.
• Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic environment.
• Strong supervision and program planning skills.
• Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification (to be completed upon hiring).
• Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring).
• HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development training (asset).
• Safe Food Handlers certification (asset).
• A vehicle or reliable mode of transportation is highly recommended.
