About the Role

We are seeking an experienced estimator with knowledge and experience in Electrical Utility Construction, preferably with Substations or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The role involves compiling cost estimates, assessing resources, analyzing quotes, and supporting tender packages to ensure profitable project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complete estimates including site visits, quantity take-offs, pricing, and presentation.
  • Assemble estimates from various sources with engineering support.
  • Review and validate outsourced estimates with engineering support.
  • Incorporate historical data and project costs into the company's cost model.
  • Format estimates in Owners Reporting format.
  • Review and understand Design Basis, Engineering Design Documents, and Basis of Estimate.
  • Prepare written deliverables for bid submission, including assumptions and execution plans.
  • Provide estimating input on complex conceptual projects.
  • Guide non-estimating personnel on estimating requirements.
  • Attend project planning sessions and team meetings to provide estimating input.
  • Interface and communicate effectively with the estimating team, management, clients, and industry contacts.
  • Develop relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing.
  • Develop preliminary project schedules.
  • Develop or assist in the development of general and project-specific plans for execution, sequencing, and logistics.

Requirements

  • Experience in EPC estimating/execution and preparing written deliverables for bid submissions.
  • Demonstrated experience with InEight Estimating Software.
  • Technical knowledge of estimating practices, techniques, and equipment, including indirect and conceptual estimating.
  • Knowledge of construction costs and budgets.
  • Ability to develop a project schedule.
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications.
  • Understanding of construction documents and ability to assess completeness.
  • Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.

  • Post-Secondary education in Electrical Engineering

Salary/Compensations

  • $100,000 - $130,000 annually
