About the Role
This role involves using job production documentation to select, load, and align tools into press brake machines for producing metal parts from raw stock, ensuring tool safety and finished part quality.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all safety processes and procedures are defined for the job.
- Review job description and determine tool requirement.
- Load and align appropriate tool into press brake machine using material handling equipment.
- Set up blanks for forming in machine.
- Select appropriate packaging material and set up supply.
- Make the first part to ensure quality.
- Confer with toolmakers and quality personnel to resolve problems.
- Inspect first run of the part and submit for blue tag.
- Run parts.
- Instruct machine operator on part production.
- Perform periodic quality checks.
- Schedule work on various press brake machines to meet production requirements.
- Train new brake operators.
- Assist in scheduling jobs in other presses.
- Maintain inventory of tools and fixtures.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
- 2-3 years related experience or training.
- Understanding and ability to use inspection gauges (verniers, micrometers, height stand, pins) and material handling equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Associates of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; maneuver through the office and factory; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; grasping and twisting; talk or hear.
- Lift and/or move equipment/product weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work with another associate to lift anything greater than 50lbs.
- Regularly exposed to extreme heat; extreme cold; wet and/or humid conditions.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
