About the Role
The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and exceptional service at the time of checkout. As a Front-End Associate, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. You will play a key role in assisting customers with their purchases, handling cash transactions, and maintaining the appearance of the store.
Responsibilities
- Know and actively demonstrate, daily, our Company Mission Statement and Core Values.
- Maintain uniform standard, as detailed in the Employee Manual, for all worked hours.
- Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor, use our Guest Services script based on the division in which they serve.
- Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products as needed to access UPC codes or prices.
- Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.
- Properly use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment.
- Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items, including the charity of the month.
- Monitor merchandise brought to the register so that the accurate amounts are charged to the guest.
- Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.
- Kindly ask the guest to read and answer the pin pad question before starting the transaction.
- If necessary, check acceptable identification, use 36 sign-in, to ensure you make the legal sale.
- Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
- Issue receipts and any change due.
- Accurately count change back to the guest.
- Bag or box merchandise.
- Assist with carry-outs when needed and feasible.
- Compute and record totals of all transactions on daily record sheet.
- Call the code for a cash drop as soon as the limit has been reached in order to maintain proper till balance.
- Keep work area clean and neat and do not overstock counter with merchandise.
- Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
- Answer questions and provide information to guests.
- Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
- Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
- Avoid use of personal cell phone while on the sales floor.
- Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
- Monitor checkout station, making sure all needed tools such as register paper and paper bags are in stock.
- Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
- Carry out directives of management efficiently.
- Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
- Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
- Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
- Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
- Other projects and tasks assigned by management.
- Attendance and timeliness are required.
Requirements
- Must be over the age of 21 to work at Spec's.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit.
- In some cases, a valid Food Handlers Permit is required.
- Previous experience in retail or customer service preferred.
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures.
- Knowledge of basic math for cash transactions.
- Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette.
