About the Role
Oversees and directs the overall operation of inventory control, including staffing, work assignments, and managing budgets. Establishes protocols for accurate record-keeping, monitors open orders, and analyzes inventory levels. Builds professional relationships with healthcare providers and delegates projects to promote an efficient, cost-effective Supply Chain system. Demonstrates adherence to regulations and policies to ensure optimal patient care. Schedules and delegates specialized tasks and may interact with vendors. Recognizes and implements best practices and develops plans for change.
Responsibilities
- Oversees and directs the overall operation of inventory control
- Manages staffing and work assignments of Supply Chain personnel
- Manages established budgets
- Establishes protocols to maintain accurate records of requests
- Monitors open orders for local resolution
- Analyzes levels of inventory based on volume
- Builds professional relationships between Supply Chain staff and physicians, clinical staff, and other healthcare providers
- Delegates projects and tasks in conjunction with department managers/directors, clinicians and physicians
- Promotes an efficient, cost effective Supply Chain system that meets short and long term goals
- Demonstrates, leads by example and adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures
- Ensures privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care
- Schedules and delegates highly-specialized tasks
- Articulates departmental responsibilities to visiting or new employees
- May interact with vendors, special orders, and consignment when working with clinical leads
- May act as a backup to the management staff
- Recognizes and emulates best practices by implementing standard workflows/processes
- Develops plans of action to implement changes
Requirements
- Demonstrated success in major project coordination and implementation of successful cost containment initiatives is required
- Must be able to synthesize data and create meaningful presentation
- Must be able to quickly grasp data provided in opportunity analyses and effectively secure feedback to the supplying source as to its quality
- Knowledge of healthcare products and equipment, inventory sources, and alternative sources of supply, purchasing, and distribution systems, contract administration, and new or emerging trends in the industry are required
- Team leadership and organization skills are required
- Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to manage complex situations with a high degree of variation
- Must be able to successfully facilitate team meetings that may involve competing objectives
- Employees of Sutter Health and its entities may handle hazardous drugs in the course of their work, including patient care, which requires them to manage, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines.
