About the Role

As a Property & Casualty (P&C) Actuary in Risk Modelling Services, you will contribute risk modelling, general insurance advice, and consulting services. You'll advise on solvency, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, financial modelling, and claims/reporting process efficiency, including oversight for emerging risks like climate and cyber. Our team helps insurers address financial reporting requirements and regulatory impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and grow the Quebec P&C Actuarial Services team, including team development, client service delivery, and business growth.
  • Provide Appointed Actuary and audit services, including IFRS 17 actuarial liability valuation and Financial Condition Testing.
  • Advise clients on strategic and technical matters such as product development, pricing, mergers and acquisitions, and other advisory services.
  • Collaborate with Canadian P&C Actuarial practice leadership to set strategy, drive new business and services, and provide technical advice.
  • Build strong internal PwC networks to identify and capitalize on cross-business unit and sector project opportunities.
  • Identify key client issues and translate them into meaningful opportunities.
  • Build and maintain client relationships.
  • Manage and deliver large projects by developing the project team, assessing engagement risks, driving conclusions, and reviewing team output.
  • Take responsibility for engagement financials.
  • Leverage technology, analytics, and AI to deliver forward-looking client solutions.
  • Recruit and manage P&C actuarial staff.

Requirements

  • Considerable experience in corporate actuarial valuation services (Valuation/Reserving, Financial Reporting, Capital Analysis, and Financial Condition Testing).
  • Extensive experience managing an actuarial function or service, including staff and financial metrics.
  • Experience with product development and pricing, including new and emerging modelling and techniques.
  • A proactive, autonomous working style with the ability to take ownership, develop plans, and execute successfully.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing differences, developing and coaching diverse teams, and ensuring diverse perspectives are heard.
  • Fluency in English is required, in addition to French, to support or collaborate with English-speaking clients, colleagues, and/or stakeholders.
  • This position ensures continuity and upholds our standards of excellence following the departure of a valued team member.
