About the Role
The Family/Community Liaison will conduct Family workshops to enhance communication skills for substance misuse prevention and communication regarding risky behaviors. This role involves community outreach to promote education on substances, prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery.
Responsibilities
- Work with school, CBO, and FBO partners to provide information sessions for substance misuse prevention.
- Conduct community outreach and presentations to inform about RISE UP goals and programming.
- Establish and maintain relationships with CBOs and FBOs providing support services.
- Provide outreach training workshops and team building for Elmcor peer mentors.
- Refer and assist in scheduling appointments for program participants to family support services.
- Provide or arrange translation, transportation, and other practical support services.
- Assist in meeting the goals of the Prevention Coalition and Queens Regional Network.
- Assist in developing the Family corner for the Newsletter.
- Attend workshops/conferences and represent Elmcor at meetings and functions.
- Assist the Program Manager in developing and improving program services.
- Complete and submit workshop evaluation summary reports and pre/post tests monthly.
- Oversee and assist with intervention and prevention services, including community service projects and enrichment trips.
- Facilitate individual and group work, prevention and intervention activities, family support services, educational sessions, and social/recreational/community service activities.
- Provide and follow up on referrals to community services providers, advocating for youth and problem-solving with agencies.
- Attend all program and agency-related meetings, trainings, and collaborative efforts.
- Travel to off-site locations to provide services.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and 3-4 years of experience.
- Knowledge of Family/Community education and advocacy issues and development.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of family service delivery programs and the community.
- Experience conducting workshops.
- Knowledge of substance use prevention, program implementation, and evaluation.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Flexible schedule including some evening/weekend work.
- Computer literate.
- Bilingual is a plus.
