About the Role
iGaming Ontario is seeking an experienced Senior Azure Data Analyst to play a key role in designing, developing, and evolving the enterprise data platform. This position will be responsible for building scalable data pipelines, integrating diverse data sources, developing data models, and supporting analytical and reporting capabilities across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technology teams to gather data integration, reporting, and analytics requirements.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using Azure and Snowflake technologies.
- Build and optimize ELT/ETL processes.
- Support the implementation and evolution of iGaming Ontario's Snowflake data platform.
- Develop and maintain Data Vault 2.0 models, including Hubs, Links, and Satellites, to support enterprise-scale data integration and historical tracking.
- Utilize modern data transformation and automation tools to support data modeling, lineage tracking, and deployment processes.
- Design and implement data ingestion frameworks for structured and semi-structured data from internal and external sources.
- Develop and maintain data products that support regulatory reporting, AML monitoring, gaming revenue reporting, operational analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
- Optimize data platform performance, reliability, and costs.
- Implement data quality controls, validation processes, and governance standards throughout the data lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain database objects, including views, functions, stored procedures, and reusable data services.
- Ensure data security, privacy, encryption, and access controls align with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Support CI/CD deployment processes and infrastructure-as-code practices using Azure DevOps and Git.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of data architecture standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database development, data integration, or enterprise data warehousing.
- Strong experience designing, building, and supporting cloud-based data platforms.
- Advanced SQL development, database optimization, and performance tuning expertise.
- Hands-on experience with Azure technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Key Vault, Blob Storage, and Azure DevOps.
- Experience developing and maintaining enterprise ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Experience working with large-scale, high-volume datasets and implementing performance optimization strategies.
- Experience developing Power BI datasets, dashboards, and reports.
- Experience with Git-based source control and CI/CD deployment practices.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, governance, quality, security, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with Snowflake and modern cloud data warehousing platforms.
- Knowledge of data modeling methodologies, including dimensional modeling and Data Vault.
- Experience with data transformation, automation, observability, and monitoring tools and frameworks.
- Knowledge of metadata management, data lineage, and master data management concepts.
- Experience working in regulated industries such as gaming, financial services, or the public sector.
- Azure and/or Snowflake certifications are considered an asset.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Will be subject to a criminal background check.
