About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to join a manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for sourcing materials and equipment, managing supplier relationships, maintaining inventory levels, and supporting production requirements.
Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and delivery
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and purchasing agreements
- Purchase materials, equipment, and supplies according to production requirements
- Prepare and issue purchase orders
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Monitor supplier performance and delivery deadlines
- Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records
- Utilize MRP to support material planning and procurement
- Maintain ERP information, including EBQ, safety stock, and vendor selection
- Ensure inventory and materials are available to support production schedules
- Research new suppliers and opportunities to reduce costs and improve purchasing efficiency
Requirements
- 3+ years of manufacturing/mechanical industry experience required
- Warehouse experience required
- Experience with purchasing, sourcing, inventory control, and vendor management
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Associate degree preferred
- Spanish fluency preferred
