About the Role
Whitley Penn's internship program offers students hands-on experience in public accounting, working alongside professionals and leaders. Interns gain exposure to associate-level responsibilities, contribute to client engagements, and are encouraged to learn, collaborate, and make an impact. The program focuses on professional growth, career development, and building confidence, technical, and leadership skills through the DEVELOP at WP program.
Responsibilities
- Handles the details of accounting, technical accounting research, ERP implementations, and other projects on behalf of clients.
- Learn and apply best practices for client communications (Email, voicemail, telephone, face-to-face).
- Exhibit strong communication skills, both orally and in writing. Actively listen and clearly communicate ideas and information.
- Establish networks and relationships across the Firm. Develop knowledge of the Firm (history, strategy, policies, processes, best practices, etc.).
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives and utilize that knowledge in engagements.
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
- Available to participate in the internship from January through March 2027 or June through August 2027 and can commit to the full program duration.
- Plan to be CPA-eligible within 18 months of completing your internship.
- Authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and confidently.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire to learn.
- Thrive in a collaborative team environment while taking initiative and ownership.
- Flexible and able to work onsite at client locations as needed.
- Register with a non-university email.
