About the Role
Seeking an experienced Construction Management Representative (CMR) to provide full-time, on-site construction management support for a National Park Service (NPS) infrastructure improvement project at the Presidio of San Francisco. The project involves roadway reconstruction, paving, drainage, utility work, and associated site improvements.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an on-site representative supporting the Government's oversight of construction activities.
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with contract plans, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Perform and document field observations and construction progress.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
- Monitor roadway demolition, sitework, drainage, trenching, asphalt paving, concrete, masonry, grading, fencing, guardrail, and related civil construction.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, schedules, estimates, and payment requests.
- Evaluate construction cost proposals, including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor costs, overhead, and profit.
- Document differing site conditions and changes in project scope.
- Coordinate with Government Project Managers/CORs and construction contractors.
- Review baseline and updated construction schedules and evaluate critical-path activities.
- Monitor resource-protection measures intended to minimize impacts to natural and cultural resources.
- Participate in the project's three-phase construction quality-control process.
- Prepare reports and maintain project documentation using construction management and Microsoft Office software.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of Construction Management experience, or applicable Construction Management degree/certification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with the three phases of on-site Quality Control.
- Current/completed OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety training.
- Experience inspecting or managing similar civil construction, preferably including roadway demolition/reconstruction, asphalt paving and parking lots, milling and overlay, sitework and drainage, waterline trenching/installation, concrete and masonry, fine earthwork/grading, metal fabrication, and native plant/site restoration.
- Experience reviewing construction estimates, schedules, progress, and payment requests.
- Experience working with Government PMs/CORs on RFIs, submittments, change orders, and field observation reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Adobe PDF, and MS Project.
- Ability to understand baseline schedules, progress reporting, and critical-path scheduling.
- Ability to walk, climb, and regularly navigate active construction areas.
- Previous National Park Service (NPS) construction experience.
- Previous construction management experience supporting other federal agencies.
- Experience implementing federal natural and cultural resource-protection requirements.
- Strong roadway, paving, drainage, and civil/site construction background.
