About the Role

You will be the technical leader for a mature, profitable B2B SaaS platform, owning the codebase, setting the roadmap, and driving value creation. The mandate is to reimagine core workflows with AI, retire expensive third-party dependencies, and reduce operational drag.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical and product roadmap, translating business priorities into a sequenced engineering plan.
• Drive all technical aspects including architecture, code quality, security, data modeling, performance, and release engineering.
• Ship AI features from plan to production, including evaluations, guardrails, and tenant-safe tool use.
• Operate as a team of one, prioritizing ruthlessly, making small safe changes, and automating processes.
• Increase velocity and harden the codebase through trunk-based development, automated testing, and robust deployment paths.
• Own and manage operating costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure security and data handling are prioritized, maintaining least-privilege access and protecting sensitive data.
• Act as the technical representative of the business, building trust with operators and customers through clear communication.

Requirements

• Senior Python and TypeScript engineer with deep, current experience in Python backend services and Node/TypeScript.
• Comfortable owning, reading, fixing, and reshaping a large, mature codebase.
• Genuine generalist ('jack of all trades') comfortable moving across web, mobile, data, infra, and AI.
• Deep experience designing, deploying, and operating systems on AWS, including Kubernetes, queues, event-driven workers, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Proficiency in modeling, querying, tuning, and reasoning about production Postgres.
• Proven experience introducing trunk-based development, automated testing, and environment discipline to existing codebases.
• Shipped production software on foundation models, including retrieval, tool use, evals, and guardrails, with a point of view on safe multi-tenant implementation.
• Demonstrated sole ownership of a critical system, including design, build, deployment, on-call, and customer communication.
• Strong product and business instinct to prioritize effectively and defend roadmaps.
• Ability to identify and address critical technical debt.
• Strong writing and communication skills to build trust with non-engineers.
