About the Role
The Assistant Residential Manager assists the Residential Manager in the management of all program operations, performs direct care, and ensures consumer programs are adhered to. This role collects data to help analyze consumer behavioral patterns and assumes the Residential Manager's duties in their absence.
Responsibilities
- Works vacant shifts if unable to find coverage and shares on-call coverage with Manager bi-weekly.
- Assists Manager in conducting Residential Instructor performance appraisals.
- Reviews monthly all consumer files for completion and accuracy of data collected on consumers.
- Assists in preparation of staff meeting agendas and attends Assistant Residential Manager meetings.
- Participates in developing and carrying out plans to meet resident and home needs.
- Acts as an advocate and role model for consumers, treating them with respect and dignity.
- Documents all activity pertaining to the welfare of the home or consumer, including consumer/visitor movement, unusual incidents, medical emergencies, changes in consumer conduct, and resident program forms.
- Distributes all medications according to schedule and guidelines.
- Provides and documents activities or programs for consumers during each shift, organizing, supervising, and interacting with them.
- Provides and ensures a social environment that enhances the personal growth of each consumer.
- Assists in supervising and safely transporting residents to community activities, day programs, and social events.
- Knows and follows emergency home procedures for fire, hurricanes, power outages, accidents, or other serious incidents.
- Monitors consumer behavior and implements behavior management programs, documenting all actions.
- Provides programmatic and statistical reports as required.
- Maintains safety, appearance, and cleanliness of the home, conducting inspections and making minor repairs.
- Maintains a professional attitude with co-workers, management, and outside agencies.
- Knows consumer locations at all times and implements all Agency policies and procedures, including medication administration, key control, IP following, evacuation, emergency procedures, and compliance with regulations.
- Alerts appropriate personnel immediately regarding problems or unusual occurrences and completes incident reports in a timely manner.
- Implements and adheres to all policies, procedures, and commitments to consumers as required by state and federal agencies.
- Assists guardians, parents, and others in understanding and implementing normalization/person-centered-planning principles.
- Reports and responds immediately to any violation of individuals' rights and participates in investigations.
- Attends in-service training and provides training for Agency personnel as required.
- Actively participates in staff meetings and trainings.
- Has thorough working knowledge of Agency policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Follows Behavior Support Plans and documents accordingly.
Requirements
- Minimum possession of a High School Diploma or a G.E.D.
- Minimum two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnoses.
- Minimum one year management experience.
- Experience requirement may be substituted with education on a year-for-year basis.
- Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by the agency's insurance company.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, PMT, and DDS State Medication Administration.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, transfer, and physically intervene with individuals as required.
