About the Role

An experienced electrical professional is sought to join a growing electrical contractor as a Small Works Manager, overseeing projects typically valued up to £50,000 from initial enquiry to final handover. This role is suitable for an established Small Works Manager or an experienced electrician/supervisor ready for a management step.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of multiple small electrical projects at different stages, combining estimating, client management, and project delivery.
• Attend client sites to carry out surveys and establish the scope of required works.
• Produce quotations and price electrical works up to approximately £50,000.
• Price from site surveys, specifications, and electrical drawings.
• Plan labour, materials, access requirements, and project programmes.
• Coordinate electricians, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Manage several live projects simultaneously and ensure works remain on programme.
• Monitor project costs and protect commercial margin throughout delivery.
• Identify, price, and agree variations with clients.
• Order materials and coordinate deliveries to site.
• Liaise directly with clients, main contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Manage works within occupied and live commercial environments where disruption needs to be carefully controlled.
• Ensure works are completed safely and to the required quality standards.
• Manage projects through completion, certification, and final handover.
• Undertake evening or weekend working as required, with overtime paid additionally.

Requirements

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations – C&G 2382.
• ECS/JIB Gold Card.
• Strong commercial electrical installation experience.
• Experience within environments such as commercial offices, fit-out, banking, data centres or similar.
• Ability to survey a job and produce an accurate quotation.
• Experience pricing electrical works from drawings and specifications.
• Previous experience supervising, managing, or taking ownership of your own jobs.
• Good commercial awareness, particularly around labour, materials, variations, and project margin.
• Ability to manage several smaller projects simultaneously.
• Strong organisation and planning skills.
• Confidence dealing directly with clients.
• Full UK driving licence.
