About the Role

The Preschool Program Trainer provides implementation and oversight of training needs for Preschool staff and works collaboratively with program leadership to ensure the development of training curricula and processes aligned with regulatory requirements. This role enhances employee competencies through side-by-side and group training, boosting performance and knowledge. The position ensures diverse training approaches accommodate various learning styles, evaluates training effectiveness, and collaborates with leadership to improve the overall training and orientation experience for new staff.

Responsibilities

  • Transition new hires from agency orientation into their program position across all preschool sites
  • Organize, coordinate, and provide onsite orientation for new hires in the preschool program
  • Develop, organize, and implement a range of training activities using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures
  • Develop processes/systems which ensure training compliance with OCFS and NYSED regulations
  • Train and coach new hires as well as existing employees
  • Complete ongoing, on-site observation, coaching, and assessments of skills of new hires while in their assigned classrooms
  • Support existing employees to improve or enhance existing skills while in the program
  • Collaborate and coordinate with leadership on providing role-specific trainings
  • Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees' work behavior
  • Support certified Teacher Assistants in mentoring new staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, Education, or a closely related field required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years of preschool teaching preferred/ experience required
  • Previous experience providing adult education, coaching, mentoring, or staff training preferred
  • Knowledge of New York State OCFS regulations, NYSED requirements, and early childhood best practices
  • Strong presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License

Salary/Compensations

  • $25.00 - $27.00 an hour
