About the Role
Insures the accuracy of all inbound goods and performs weekly cycle counts to assure proper inventory levels.
Responsibilities
- Receives and checks inbound goods for accuracy in quantity, quality, and price, including vendor and inter-company receipts.
- Notes discrepancies in quantity, quality, and price.
- Notifies the Yard Foreman of discrepancies or damages and marks freight bills with driver signatures.
- Maintains receiving logs.
- Completes and properly disposes of all paperwork for goods received.
- Maintains a clean and safe receiving area.
- Ensures all goods received are put away before the end of the work shift.
- Manages the movement, tagging, and storage of special order merchandise.
- Contacts customers directly or passes on paperwork for customer notification.
- Prepares and arranges for goods to be returned to vendors or suppliers.
- Performs weekly cycle counts and investigates discrepancies.
- Reports low or out-of-stock situations to the Yard Foreman.
- Adjusts on-hand counts for accuracy.
- Notifies the Yard Foreman of changes to on-hand amounts and reports discrepancies over the allotted amount to the Branch Manager.
- Identifies damaged goods and makes necessary inventory adjustments per policy.
- Reports any indications of theft to the Yard Foreman immediately.
- Assists customers as needed.
- Performs other yard functions as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb or balance.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and/or other associates.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate and percent.
- Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Experience Level
- Twelve months related experience and/or training
Education Level
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
