About the Role

Squarepoint Capital's Infrastructure Services team seeks a hands-on Infrastructure Developer to engineer foundational services for a leading quantitative investment firm. This role focuses on programmatic integration and API-driven automation, aiming to eliminate manual infrastructure operations through self-service solutions. You will own the interaction model between the CMDB and infrastructure systems, driving automation across bare metal provisioning, network configuration, cloud resource management, and storage services.

Responsibilities

Design and own the API interaction model spanning all infrastructure domains: bare metal, network fabric, virtualization, cloud, and storage.
Drive automated server lifecycle management via API integration with provisioning systems.
Automate network fabric configuration using Arista EOS VXLAN/EVPN environments.
Integrate with cloud providers (GCP, AWS) and on-premises virtualization platforms for consistent resource lifecycle management.
Manage storage services (Weka, Vast, S3-compatible) via API, including volume provisioning and data lifecycle.
Own and maintain the enterprise CMDB API layer (FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes/Knative) as the authoritative source of truth.
Design and implement end-to-end automation pipelines to eliminate manual handoffs.
Build event-driven workflows using Knative/Eventing to propagate infrastructure state changes.
Develop self-service interfaces (APIs, CLIs, internal developer portals) for routine infrastructure operations.
Implement policy-as-code integrations for security and segmentation policies.
Lead API engineering triage, evaluating and scoping new automation initiatives.
Collaborate with product teams, vendors, and stakeholders to define API integration requirements.
Allocate and coordinate implementation work across teams.
Maintain a vendor API roadmap, tracking capabilities and planning integrations.
Own the evolving CMDB data model, designing schemas for current and future infrastructure states.
Ensure CMDB schema tolerance for evolution and new CI types.
Model topological relationships between infrastructure components.
Integrate and subsume existing sources of truth into the unified CMDB model.
Design CI versioning and audit trails for compliance and change management.
Build relationships with global infrastructure leads, platform teams, and application teams.
Serve as the technical bridge between infrastructure engineering and the broader Technology organization.
Collaborate with Cybersecurity to implement identity-based, federated security policy enforcement.
Contribute to the Infrastructure Platform Direction strategy, advocating for infrastructure generation from high-level descriptions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on infrastructure automation, systems integration, or platform engineering.
Production-quality Python development experience, including clean, tested, and maintainable code.
Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and async Python is highly valued.
Deep experience designing RESTful APIs, including resource modeling, versioning, pagination, error handling, and OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
Proven experience designing relational database schemas (PostgreSQL preferred) for complex, evolving domains.
Working understanding of at least two of the following domains: bare metal provisioning, network configuration, storage systems, virtualization, or cloud infrastructure.
Demonstrated track record of integrating heterogeneous systems via APIs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts.
Strong analytical and organizational skills, able to scope ambiguous problems and drive execution.
Experience with the Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence) and Git (GitLab).
