About the Role
Under the supervision of the Retail Store Manager or Department Head, engages customers and offers assistance in finding products. Responsibilities include stocking, merchandising, and cleaning of assigned department or store location.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and offer assistance in locating products.
- Provide customer service over the phone.
- Suggest products to customers for their projects and explain proper usage.
- Utilize vendor catalogs and websites to locate special order items.
- Create customer orders accurately in the Epicor computer system and follow up on the ordering process.
- Transfer stock from back-stock areas to the sales floor.
- Stock shelves with product.
- Assist customers in other departments when needed.
- Perform tasks assigned by Store Manager or Department Head.
- Perform tasks to satisfy customer needs, such as mixing paint, cutting keys, or cutting copper.
- Front, face, and straighten product throughout the day.
- Rotate perishable stock.
- Clean assigned department or store, including sweeping, dusting, and mopping.
- Merchandise product to promote items and increase sales.
- Communicate pricing errors, out-of-stock situations, customer complaints, or other pertinent information to the department head.
- Clean, straighten, and organize back-stock areas.
- Assist and communicate with fellow employees when needed.
- Strive to expand product knowledge through training classes and listening to knowledgeable co-workers.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to walk.
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include ability to adjust focus.
