About the Role

We are the Global KYC and Onboarding squad in the Servicing department, focused on enabling teams at Wise to expand and fine-tune the business globally while remaining compliant and safe. Our verification systems are core production infrastructure protecting customers, enabling growth, and must remain reliable under constant change. Responsibilities

Own the technical roadmap for areas of ownership, ensuring they address technical debt, reliability, scalability, and security concerns.
Design and implement robust backend systems that provide clean APIs and interfaces.
Drive the integration with various risk and mitigation systems for compliance.
Identify and solve impactful problems within your team and beyond, contributing to cross-team initiatives.
Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, impacting verification process scalability and improvement.
Leverage expertise to solve ambiguous, open-ended problems and drive prioritization decisions.
Define and implement technical solutions or operational processes that level up the team and contribute beyond it.
Mentor other engineers and share best practices.

Requirements

4+ years of experience working with Java 8+, Spring framework, asynchronous message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Experience architecting and building highly scalable microservices.
A strong product mindset and a deep passion for customer experience and regulatory compliance.
Ability to prioritize work with a holistic view of customer and business impact.
Ability to make data-driven decisions to solve complex, ambiguous problems.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and architectural concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Commitment to writing clean, testable, maintainable, and highly performant code.
Strong advocate for best coding practices and rigorous code reviews.
Proven ability to identify and lead the technical delivery of large-scale, organisationally-complex projects.
Adept at anticipating and escalating organizational blockers.
Extensive experience working with relational and non-relational databases, including advanced query optimization, schema design, and data lifecycle management for sensitive information.
