About the Role
Support building science and restoration projects by assisting with condition assessments, design development, construction contract administration, and site reviews for residential, commercial, institutional, federal, and healthcare clients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct construction field reviews, monitoring progress against specifications, building codes, and standards, and prepare reports.
- Perform building and structure condition assessments, capital plans, and investigations.
- Prepare reports, analysis, design, plans, details, and specifications for building additions, modifications, and renovations.
- Prepare construction Working Drawings, Specifications, and Terms of Reference.
- Manage multiple projects from initiation to completion under supervision.
- Liaise with clients, design consultants, and contractors to ensure compliance with design documents and timely, on-budget project delivery.
- Utilize initiative and judgment to resolve problems, interpret engineering specifications, and address design and field engineering difficulties.
- Work collaboratively with Senior Engineers, taking direction as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in applied science, Architecture, or Engineering from an accredited University.
- Working knowledge of building codes and standards.
- Experience with concrete and masonry restoration, structural waterproofing systems, and structural steel restoration is preferred.
- Project management skills with the ability to collaborate with a design team and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, including technical writing.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Word and Excel.
- Access to a reliable vehicle with a valid Ontario Driver’s License for client site travel.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Comfort working in active construction and restoration environments, performing site reviews, and coordinating with contractors.
- Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces may be required.
