About the Role
Join Catholic Charities as Warming Center Staff and make a real difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness during the coldest months of the year. This role offers a chance to be a lifeline and work in a purpose-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Complete all direct service tasks related to the warming center including intakes; providing material goods to guest as needed, interacting with guests, and providing them with referrals and/or information about area services and programs as appropriate
- Provide laundry service for guests, washing and drying the laundry for guests as requested
- Maintain a list of guests each day and provide that information to the supervisor as required
- Ensure that all policies and procedures of the warming center are followed by guests
- Upon arrival, set-up warming center, including cots, bedding, beverages, food, entertainment supplies, etc.
- Upon departure of all guests, clean and disinfect all equipment used and the warming center including bathroom and kitchen area
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1 to 3 years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or vulnerable populations
- Empathy, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in all situations
