About the Role

The Human Resources Generalist performs HR-related duties on a professional level, working closely with senior management. This role focuses on benefits administration, recruitment and onboarding, and policy implementation, while upholding ethical practices and MHA's culture.

Responsibilities

  • Assure MHA and its mission, programs, and services are consistently presented in an efficient, strong, and positive image.
  • Foster and maintain an environment of collaboration and innovation in accordance with personnel policies and procedures that conform to current laws and regulations.
  • Review departmental needs with supervisors, assist with staffing level analysis, and obtain approvals on hire requisitions.
  • Support internal and external employment advertisements and job postings to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.
  • Build applicant sources by researching and contacting local community services, colleges, employment agencies, media, and internet sites.
  • Attend job fairs and other employment-related events.
  • Assist with telephone screening of candidates, schedule interviews, check and document employee references, and provide feedback to applicants.
  • Oversee processing of all required employee fingerprints and background checks.
  • Maintain organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program, and recommending changes.
  • Oversee pre-employment requirements and the onboarding process.
  • Oversee TB authorizations for services at OMNI Medical.
  • Support benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices, and communicating benefit information.
  • Manage administration of 403(b) plan, FSA/HSA account, Health Care Benefits, and Life Insurance.
  • Research new and cost-effective employee benefits.
  • Reconcile benefit accounts.
  • Serve as liaison for EAP (Employee Assistance Program).
  • Serve as primary contact for all staff regarding new employees, benefits, policies, enrollment, and the Employee Handbook.
  • Help coordinate open enrollment period, process benefit selections, and yearly option selections.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional associations.
  • Assist in evaluating department reports, decisions, and results in relation to established goals.
  • Follow all agency policy and procedures and demonstrate continuous regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Adhere to the agency Code of Ethical and Legal Behavior.
  • Act as primary back up for Human Resources Operations Manager in their absence.
  • Answer MHA’s main office phone as needed.
  • Participate in MHA’s committees as needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be people oriented and results driven.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment under crisis situations and to abide by regulations regarding confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Must be clear and maintain an acceptable record under mandated criminal background check process.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive with current driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field

Salary/Compensations

  • $29.00-$31.00 per hour
