About the Role
We are building a Go-based system that connects ground station hardware and cloud services worldwide using MQTT, with concurrent use of Kubernetes and serverless environments like AWS Lambda. This role involves end-to-end system development, from edge software controlling modems and antenna drives at remote sites to APIs and web consoles for satellite operators. The primary focus is software engineering, with RF and ground system experience being a significant advantage.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain systems that virtualize diverse ground station networks globally on a single platform.
- Build high-speed, scalable backend services using Go for global cloud infrastructure, managing pass cloud schedules, data distribution, and ground station operations.
- Develop and operate an MQTT-based data path for rapid and reliable transmission of command, telemetry, and mission data between ground stations and the cloud.
- Create an intuitive and flexible service management UI for pass cloud schedule configuration, SLA monitoring, and billing dashboards.
- Reduce barriers for satellite operators and ground station partners connecting to the platform to accelerate network expansion.
- Develop software to communicate with modems, antenna drives, and receivers via TCP/IP and serial protocols.
- Enhance platform efficiency, scalability, security, and reliability; create tools to reduce vulnerabilities and automate routine tasks.
- Conduct design and code reviews, develop within agile processes, and manage task prioritization, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Define and maintain processes for onboarding LEO satellites and ground stations to the StellarStation platform, driving projects from proposal to integration testing and production.
- Evaluate customer and partner radio systems remotely and on-site, analyze recorded signals, and troubleshoot the entire signal path.
- Create GNU Radio blocks/scripts and operate Software Defined Radio (SDR).
- Configure and verify the operation of ground station equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Development experience in a Linux/Unix environment.
- Development experience with at least two general-purpose programming languages (Go and Python experience preferred; willingness and ability to learn new languages as needed).
- Development experience using major cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
- Understanding of testing methodologies and practical experience with various tests (unit, integration, acceptance, UI, performance).
- Practical knowledge of SQL and Git.
- Experience collaborating with geographically distributed teams to complete engineering projects.
- Business-level English and Japanese proficiency (speaking and writing required).
- Strong passion or interest in satellites, rockets, and the space industry.

About the Company
- Infostellar is a globally-focused startup and the first Japanese company in its field, with the mission 'Connecting Earth and Space to empower the future'. As a GSaaS (Ground Segment as a Service) provider for orbiting satellites, we lower the barriers to ground segment construction, supporting companies in developing new businesses utilizing satellites. Through our cloud platform, StellarStation, which virtualizes ground station networks, we offer flexible and scalable ground station network solutions. We also provide support for essential ground segment operations, such as obtaining radio station licenses and frequency coordination.
