About the Role

GFT is seeking Construction Managers and Inspectors with Heavy Civil, Utilities, and Roadway experience to join our Construction Services Group in Toronto, ON. These roles require full on-site attendance at client worksites and will commence in October. Responsibilities

  • Participate in pre-construction development and constructability reviews.
  • Oversee construction activities and lead inspections, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Effectively communicate with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Establish a safety-first culture for all construction projects.
  • Inspect work materials and methods to ensure compliance with contract documents, maintaining quality and safety.
  • Document construction activity, including environmental events and progress, for project closeout.
  • Issue and follow up on contract deficiency reports and required corrective actions.
  • Assist in resolving construction-related issues and enhancing processes.
  • Carry out all quality assurance and quality control functions and coordinate inspections.
  • Lead small projects in managing, implementing, and tracking change notices for as-constructed drawings.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to solve complex problems and report on contract compliance.
  • Review the quality of contractors' work and prepare reports for clients.
  • Engage in professional growth opportunities, leadership training, and preparation for future leadership roles.

Requirements

  • Heavy Civil, Utilities and Roadway experience.
  • Construction Inspection experience.
  • Experience inspecting mechanical and/or electrical systems and supervising construction sites.
  • Structural design experience.
  • Proven understanding of industry standards, construction, Health and Safety codes, and regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Flexibility to travel to construction sites for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
