About the Role

This position assists in the operation of HOOPP’s P&L system (Ortec Pearl), associated data flows and warehousing, and provides solutions for automated and ad-hoc investment reporting. The role requires a detailed understanding of HOOPP’s investment products, strategies, trade flow, data lifecycle processes, systems, data structures, and IT architecture. Configuration, reconciliation, data warehouse navigation, and coding for reporting/automations are critical. The role also involves broader responsibilities within the Investment Reporting & Analytics group, interacting with various departments and assisting on cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and confirm P&L system jobs and associated processes have executed successfully, troubleshooting and re-executing as needed.
  • Analyze and confirm Performance data quality in production for release through the Enterprise Data Platform.
  • Assist in the configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of the P&L system across multiple environments, recommending optimizations.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional reports and automation solutions using tools like Qlik, Python, Snowflake, Excel, Power BI, and SAP Hana.
  • Develop a deep understanding of HOOPP’s Data Architecture as it relates to Investment Reporting, Data Governance & Valuations.
  • Analyze, monitor, and confirm the accuracy of calculation methodologies impacting team-supported reports.
  • Design and implement automated solutions for data quality monitoring, evaluation, and exception-based handling.
  • Coordinate with other teams on projects, capturing and documenting requirements, communicating them to implementation teams, advising on solutions, and validating deliverables.
  • Continuously seek process improvements and new, value-add initiatives for the Business Intelligence, Performance Systems, and Analytics group.
  • Interface with internal systems to analyze data transformation and flows, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to deliver robust automated solutions while mitigating implementation risks.
  • Learn and stay current with key processes impacting the team.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in technical or related fields (e.g., Finance, IT, Mathematics, Information Systems).
  • 3+ years in a business-focused technical role within the Investment industry.
  • Working knowledge of diverse asset classes (Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives and Alternatives).
  • Experience configuring and maintaining middle office systems.
  • Expert proficiency with SQL, spreadsheets, and database applications (e.g., Snowflake, Oracle, SAP Hana).
  • Working knowledge of Python and/or some other general-purpose programming language is an asset.
  • Experience developing reports using a range of Business Intelligence Tools (e.g., Qlik, Power BI), including data model design, development, and maintenance.
  • Keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Basic knowledge of SaaS concepts, SDLC, and DevOps processes.
  • Proven ability to perform requirement analysis, author documentation, communicate with stakeholders, and drive UAT execution.
  • Professional designations (e.g., CFA, FRM, CPA) are an asset.
  • A commitment to demonstrating HOOPP values.
  • Diligent with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think conceptually and creatively, leading initiatives for improvements.
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction as well as part of a team.
  • Works well under pressure, handles concurrent tasks, and meets prescribed deadlines.
