About the Role

Blyth Academy is seeking a committed and engaging Intermediate-Senior Physical Education & Social Sciences teacher to teach the Ontario Secondary School curriculum. Experience teaching elementary and intermediate levels is an asset. The role offers small classrooms with an average of 10 students, enhanced student engagement, less administrative work, autonomy in teaching structure and style, supportive colleagues and leadership, flexibility to teach within various programs, and boutique campuses with unique learning environments.

Responsibilities

Teach the Ontario Secondary School curriculum.
Educate students focused on academic success and with strong parental support.
Engage, challenge, and inspire young learners.
Effectively manage and foster a positive learning environment.
Incorporate student interests, experiential hands-on learning activities, and an empathetic approach to teaching and learning.
Incorporate literacy and numeracy across the curriculum.
Incorporate research and evidence-based inquiry and decision-making approaches in the classroom.

Requirements

Subject matter expertise and teaching experience.
Extensive knowledge of current Ontario curriculum.
Empathetic and dedicated to students’ learning, growth, and development.
Able to effectively manage and foster a positive learning environment.
Openness to differentiated learning approaches.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Flexibility, accountability, and integrity.
Must be able to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
