Travis Association for the Blind/Austin Lighthouse (TAB) is a non-profit organization founded in 1934. Responsibilities

  • Process production orders and incoming material in a timely manner, following all accepted Company procedures.
  • Prepare work orders by processing parts requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in staging area.
  • Assure production orders are pulled correctly, properly documented, and final disposition to the production floor is correct.
  • Mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
  • Inspect product load for accuracy and safely move it around the warehouse.
  • Weigh materials or products and record weight or other production data on tags or labels.
  • Perform cycle counts.
  • Maintain and operate all company property and equipment in accordance with accepted Company practices.
  • Follow all company Safety and personnel rules and regulations.
  • Preserve a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative problem solver who thrives when presented with a challenge.
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.
  • Flexible and able to multitask on several different aspects of a project or on multiple projects.
  • Able to take initiative to recommend projects, product improvements, or cost reductions.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
  • Excellent communicator: able to understand instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Strong mathematical and technical skills.
  • Knowledge of safety around heavy machinery.
  • Manual and electric pallet jack, and forklift driving skills.
  • Strong dexterity capabilities to grasp, assemble, and manipulate objects.
  • Ability to stand for 8-12 hours a day.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25lbs items at times.
  • Ability to work with and around various chemicals.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, adjust position for 50% of the time.
  • Ability to work in conditions with varying temperature, including cold and/or heat.
  • Ability to navigate safely in small or large areas/environment.
  • Able to work with minimal or no direct supervision.
  • Background Check and Drug Screen required.
  • Verifiable documentation of ability to work in the US.
  • Individuals who are blind or visually impaired are encouraged to apply.
