About the Role
Empower young people with SEND to shape local services through co-production, ensuring their voices are heard across communities.
Responsibilities
- Empower young people to shape local services that affect their lives.
- Undertake genuine co-production and ensure the voices of children and young people with SEND are directly heard.
- Bring youth participation to life, leading engaging activities for children and young people with SEND.
- Facilitate interactive workshops in schools and colleges.
- Create accessible information materials for young people to share their views.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, education providers, and voluntary sector partners.
- Ensure young people's insights directly shape policy and service delivery.
- Represent young people’s perspectives at service level meetings.
- Champion robust safeguarding practices across all engagement activities.
Requirements
- Substantial experience of working directly with disabled children and young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Proven track record of leading participation and engagement programmes.
- Solid understanding of SEND, inclusion, and multi-agency working.
- Practical experience involving young people in structured decision-making processes.
- Backgrounds in youth work, education, local government, the NHS, or community engagement are suitable.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to adapt facilitation techniques and communication styles to meet a wide range of needs.
- Proactive, organised, and collaborative.
- Ability to build trust across diverse communities.
- Ability to champion equality in all activities.
- Belief in the power of the youth voice and readiness to drive change.
- Get-stuck-in mindset to breaking down barriers and amplifying youth voices.
- Commitment to co-production to turn complex challenges into meaningful opportunities.
- Must have an Enhanced Children’s and Adult’s DBS.
