About the Role

As an Industrial / Continuous Improvement Engineer, you will support the Seneca Falls Operations site and other CI team members to identify and eliminate waste in the production process using tools like Flow Analysis, Simulation, and Value Stream Maps. You will devise improved methods to sustainably enhance process capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Apply Industrial Engineering and Lean concepts to improve product and information flow, reduce inventory, meet customer delivery, increase capacity, reduce complexity, and reduce costs.
  • Lead and/or participate in project teams to apply Industrial Engineering tools for process and flow improvements.
  • Implement Lean fundamental concepts such as value stream mapping and layout concepts for flow and pull.
  • Assist in gap analysis and analysis of complex factory operations and supply chains to determine optimum configurations for the SFO lean transformation.
  • Ensure facility efficiency and workplace safety.
  • Facilitate the planning and implementation of workplace flow & layout improvements.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies or more efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Lead projects of small to large scope and impact, including leading Kaizen events and other factory transformation events using DMAIC methodology.
  • Perform cost evaluations and justification analysis.
  • Develop and execute lean and continuous improvement plans and projects.
  • Communicate ideas and project status clearly and professionally.
  • Maintain knowledge of and expertise in the latest developments in Industrial and Lean Engineering.
  • Perform cycle time and bottleneck analyses.
  • Develop and improve work methods.
  • Interact with production management on productivity and utilization matters.
  • Attend training sessions, seminars, and conferences.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing related functions in machining/assembly environment in a high mix low volume facility working as an industrial or manufacturing engineer.
  • Working knowledge of engineering fundamentals, lean concepts (such as Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement methodologies), practices, and tools.
  • Experience improving material and product flow in operations.
  • Understand facility constraints such as space, machine capacity, materials movement, and utilities.
  • Must have strong interpersonal / relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of metal machining and assembly functions in a high mix low volume manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Must be familiar with ISO processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles.
  • Capability to develop a project plan and to manage a project to completion.
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proficiency in English.
  • Must be comfortable working within a union environment.
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee) due to government contract requirements and ITAR regulations.
