About the Role

The Department of Orthopedics at Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our growing, collaborative spine team. You will work closely with experienced spine surgeons and a multidisciplinary care team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals with complex spinal conditions. This role offers an opportunity to develop specialized expertise in spine care through outpatient clinic visits, surgical first assist, and perioperative care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a complete history and problem-focused examination, establishing a working diagnosis of non-operative and operative orthopedic conditions.
  • Interpret x-rays and other diagnostic studies.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Develop treatment plans for optimal patient medical management, ordering consultations and interacting with other specialty medical teams.
  • First assist orthopedic surgical cases to enhance efficiency, continuity, and quality of surgical care.
  • Provide high-quality, patient-focused perioperative care for orthopedic surgery patients.
  • Provide bedside treatments such as joint injections.
  • Respond to and manage acute care needs of hospitalized orthopedic patients.
  • Coordinate and communicate all aspects of patient care to patient, family, and health care team.
  • Educate and encourage patients to become active participants in their healthcare.
  • Provide patient education materials related to diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  • Prescribe medication, write orders, perform procedures, and respond to emergency and/or acute condition changes.
  • Thoroughly and concisely document all patient encounters, progress notes, orders, prescriptions, test results, and patient instructions.
  • Actively contribute to quality reporting metrics.
  • Participate in Grand Rounds, APP Council Meetings, unit meetings, and M&M presentations.
  • Demonstrate professional practice behavior, including preceptor/mentoring and education of students and staff.

  • RNFA required.
